To my fellow Greek alumni,
What are you doing today? Playing with your kids? Leading a board of
directors in a new
direction? E-mailing a friend you haven’t heard from in a while?
Chances are, something
you’re doing today can be attributed to the formative years you
spent in your Greek organization.
This publication honors our connection to our years of Greek life by
celebrating the best of our heritage. It applauds who we are today
and recognizes how the heritage that made us the people we are
is the same foundation that is helping to build
tomorrow’s next great Greeks.
Greek life today is very similar to what it was 10, 20 or even 30 years
ago and yet very different. Today, bonds are still being formed, a
lot of fun is being had and these young adults are learning a lot about
life, much like we did. But as you’ll read, they’re also
facing some tougher challenges than we did.
Certainly, the evolution of time has brought change, but what makes
a Greek great today is the same thing that made Greeks great way back
when.
As alumni, you have a unique opportunity to help preserve the traditions,
the memories and the heritage that represent the best of Greek life.
Take a moment today to reconnect with your roots. Make plans to visit
your house during the next homecoming, offer to be a mentor or call
one of your alumni officers and ask how you can help with the making
of the next great Greeks.
While you’re doing that, enjoy this quick glimpse at Greek life
that we’re presenting here. It’s a little bit of yesterday,
a lot of today and a promise of what tomorrow can hold.
